Ways to Give
Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation has succeeded for fifty years as a land trust entirely because of the generous support of conservation-minded individuals, corporations and foundations. The land we have conserved on Martha’s Vineyard is a direct result of philanthropy: either the land itself was given to Sheriff’s Meadow, or the money to purchase the land was given to Sheriff’s Meadow. In this anniversary year, we express our profound gratitude to our donors for a half-century of generous support, and we express our great optimism for the half-century yet to come. To all of our donors, we thank you.
There are many ways to support Sheriff’s Meadow financially, and we welcome gifts at any level. Every donor to Sheriff’s Meadow receives our semiannual newsletter. Here are some of the ways in which you can support Sheriff’s Meadow. Supporting us is as simple as clicking on the “donate online” button on this website.
Annual Fund and other Appeals Our Annual Fund provides critical, general operating support for Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation. With the Annual Fund, Sheriff’s Meadow is able to maintain miles of trails, create habitat for wildlife, help rare plants and animals, monitor our conservation restrictions, conserve additional land and more. A strong, consistent Annual Fund gives us the confidence to engage in our conservation work. In the years to come we wish to build our Annual Fund into an even stronger base of support for Sheriff’s Meadow.
We also encourage and welcome giving to other appeals. From time to time we make an appeal to abutters of our sanctuaries, we write to lapsed donors and invite them to support us again, and we make targeted appeals for specific purposes. Our newsletter and annual report also contain remittance envelopes, and a number of our donors respond to these publications with generous gifts.
Sheriff’s Meadow is very pleased to recognize those that support us at leadership levels in the special categories below. Sheriff’s Meadow holds a number of special events and activities each year for these groups of donors.
President’s Circle President’s Circle members have generously made a five-year pledge to make annual gifts of $5,000, $10,000, $20,000 or more. These donations provide operating support and help expand and protect conservation land on Martha’s Vineyard. President’s Circle donations are credited as Annual Fund gifts as well, and President’s Circle members are also members of the Stewardship Society and Henry Beetle Hough Society.
Stewardship Society Members of the Stewardship Society generous give Annual Fund or other gifts of $5,000 or more on a one-time or on a continuing basis.
Henry Beetle Hough Society HBH donors contribute $500 or more to our Annual Fund or other programs. They are currently responsible for a critical 65% of our operating income.
We encourage anyone with questions about giving to Sheriff’s Meadow to telephone Executive Director Adam Moore at (508) 693-5207.
